It all started with our TA Cade’s sneaker obsession. He has over 35 pairs in his collection!
As we’ve been enjoying our spectacular read aloud, The Wild Robot Escapes, we wondered . . . . . What would happen if Cade’s sneakers decided to escape?
Two Sneakers Wanted to Escape

The sneakers watched Cade day and night. Finally, Cade went to bed. The house was quiet except for the sneakers discussing what they wanted to do.
Finally, one sneaker said, “Why don’t we DO IT NOW!”
“What do you mean?”
“I mean we escape Cade and do what we want to do!”
“Oh, sure! Let’s go then. What are we waiting for?”
That was when the adventure began.
Cade was fast asleep. He slept until morning. The sneakers were long gone in New York City.
The sneakers did not know what to do. Then an evil, sneaky robber robbed them of their laces! They both fought that because a sneaker without laces is not a sneaker at all.
Then they saw someone giving away free laces. They ran as fast as they could, but by the time they reached it, the laces were sold out. The sneakers did not know what to do, so they looked for other shops with sneaker laces anywhere else.
A man on the street said, “There is one about a mile away.”
